Ou Mission: First Congregational United Church of Christ is a diverse community called to PARTICIPATE in God's creative action, to PRACTICE the inclusive hospitality of Jesus Christ, and to PROCLAIM the living presence of the Holy Spirit.
First Congregational UCC, believing that a vision of Christ-centered living is formed by the ways people worship study, nurture each other, and carry out social action, we affirm the following practices: We open ourselves to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit through prayer, and worship of a loving God; Celebrating with gratitude God's grace and forgiveness at work in the world; and dedicating ourselves to follow in the way of life taught by Jesus Christ.
We seek spiritual growth in our life together by offering opportunities to study Scripture, Christian tradition, othe faiths, and significant issues of our time; with heart and mind seeking authentic forms of discipleship and by following the democratic and covenantal traditions of the United Church of Christ.
We express the inclusive hospitality of Jesus Christ by welcoming all people into fellowship by being Open and Affirming, just/peace, multiracial and multicultural church accesible to all; by loving and "mentoring" one another in all life's seasons; and by embracing an examination of all issues, even the most difficult, in a spirit of love and respect.
We are called to live our faith by serving others while seeking solutions that positively transform individuals and communities; by advocating for those most in need as we strive to create a more just and peaceful world; and by being responsible stewards of all the resources God has provided us.
