Angola Guild - Founded in the early 1940s by the late Mrs. Carrie McAlpine, the organization was inspired by the achievements of the Reverend Henry McDowell, missionary to Angola Africa. The Angola Guild, a spirit-filled group of Christian women, is dedicated to serving the church, community and the world. Recently, it has assumed a "hands on ministry" to those in need.

Archives -The Archives Committee's main purpose is to preserve a legacy of church-wide activities and accomplishments for future generations. The archives room provides facilities for processing, filing and storing records/materials. The committee's focus is on the importance of preserving the church's history.

Chancel Choir - We sing and praise God using a great variety of music: classical, spirituals and contemporary gospel to name a few. We perform during 11:00 worship, in addition to presenting concerts.

Church Council - The Church Council is the Executive Body of the church. Its function is to oversee the entire welfare of the church, making sure that there is a well-rounded program.

Diaconate - It enhances the service of ministry by broadening and deepening the areas of spiritual life within the congregation, as well as the community. Members set good examples of stewardship and Christian endeavor and supplement pastoral care by engaging in nurturing activities for the church family and beyond.

Henry Glover Laymen's Fellowship - This group is composed of men of the church. The philosophy of this organization is to promote brotherhood throughout the church and community. They participate in programs of the church annually and look forward to preparing the "meat" for the annual BBQ!

Women's Fellowship -      The women of the Women's Fellowship seek to strengthen christian relationships with other women through biblical study, retreats, prayer, and projects such as "Eyes to See" (collecting and distributing eyeglasses to people in need, around the world).

Intergenerational Progressive Christian(IPC) This group seeks to be a catalyst for promoting interaction among members of all ages. Membership is open to anyone who wishes to serve God and promote the Christian Life through the organization's goals.

Trustees - The Trustee Board has the care and custody of the property of the church as a sacred trust. Trustees are primarily concerned with business and financial matters.

Sunday School - All ages are encouraged to attend. The Present Word bible study curriculum based on the international Sunday School lesson is utilized.

Board of Christian Education - We are grateful and blessed to serve the church in areas ranging from children's ministry to performance at elder care facilities. The board operates through 12 subcommittees/programs: Sunday School, Children's Ministry, Church Nursery,Vacation Bible school, Creative Angels,Crowder-Jackson-King children's choir, Learning and Enrichment Center, Children's activities, special programs and summer day camp.

Youth Fellowship - This group is composed of young people ages 13 to college age. They participate in church service on fourth and fifth Sundays. They are active in conferences both locally and regionally. They spearhead the annual Youth Day observances.

Creative Angels (Liturgical Dance Group) - The Creative Angels Liturgical Dance Group promotes an opportunity and atmosphere for children to express themselves through christian dance and movement. It offers the opportunity for each child to have fun, develop a love for music, learn new dance movements, as well as express ones feelings through creative movement and dance.

Jessie Gandy AM Bible Study Group - We study God's word and reflect on how the Bible is a guide for our lives. The class also takes field trips to local and regional museums, special events and movies that further helps the class see how the Bible is a guide for understanding who and what we are called to do as christians.

Jackson-Crowder-King Children's Choir - These children provide nurturing, inspirational music to the congregation at special events.  They are offered vocal development, limited music reading skills and are allowed to express creativity.  Their voices help to spread the message of prayer and faith in a special way.

Social Action Committee - Members stay actively involved in local, state and national social justice and service projects.  We are affiliated with the Greater Birmingham Ministries, Aid to Inmate Mothers, Birmingham Aids Walk and Firehouse Shelter for Homeless Men. The group is also affiliated with Birmingham Aids Outreach and AIDS Alabama.
