Our Mission: The Mission of First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, is, and has always been, to serve God, the community, and its people through the way of  Jesus Christ.

For almost 300 years First Congregational Church has been endeavoring to meet the spiritual needs of Sunderland, a town along the Connecticut
River under the shadow of Mt. Sugarloaf. Obviously the Church has had to
change over all these years, in order to be an effective witness to each
generation. First Congregational Church takes seriously its commitment
to all the people of the community, regardless of whether or not they
are members of the Church. This has been a healthy relationship. Our
church continues to carry on the tradition of community involvement
through opening its facilities to a variety of town gatherings and serving other needs. Perhaps the membership qualification of the church best states our religious diversity which is expressed in our openness: "All persons who manifest a sincere purpose to lead a Christian life may become members."
