August 7, 2011  Temperature 60 and cool.  The service today was conducted by Pastor Jeff.  He read the gospel in Matthew. Bob Brown read the OT in 1 Kings. Bob Brown read the NT from Romans the 10th chapter. The sermon was about the prophet Elijah fleeing from the queen Jezebel.  He hides in a cave wondering what more he should be doing.  God said sometimes we need to listen and not be working on a new task.  Bob Miess' parents Dave and Sharon are visiting in the community several more days.  Shawn Moen continues  in physical therapy.  Two wedding anniversaries: Hastings' and Batesel's. No other special news today: no one's in the hospital.  During today's service we had enough bulletins! We had a special visitor: Jennifer Holmes, who will be attending Mayville State. Her young daughter Janelle was with her. Dad is in the football program. We found them a microwave for their new home and some books for Janelle. These were left over from the rummage sale the past two days. Jeff encouraged us to attend the luncheon at the Senior Citizens' Center in Portland for a Mission project today.  The proceeds are to assist kids to get back packs for school.
