Rev. Lindy Holt, Minister

March 8, 2010  Temperature 34. Sunny. Wind is warmer and  promises of warmer weather the next several week.  The Old scripture was read by Bob Brown, New Testament by Paul Batesel, and  the gospel by Lindy.  The bulletin title today was "Open Invitation."  Marlys' birthday was Thursday and John Woxland on Wednesday. We sang "Happy Birthday" to them.  Communion was served today. Our sister churches are at Minot and Granville. Clarence Nelson was in the hospital for an operation and now is home again.

No catechism class today.  Instead there was a congregational meeting exploring yoking with another church. The group felt that this involved choice of another church which would like to yoke and what the obligations would be. No conclusions were reached and meetings will continue the next weeks and at least one next month.  Jon Ewen pointed out that finances are a priority as Lindy is scheduled to go on a sabbatical for three months and if the church would terminate ties with for her, such notice would be an additional two months. Jackee served as moderator. We remember Ollie and Ethel,
the Oxtons and John Baker in our prayers. We remember John Botto as well Jo Ewen at home as she continues to recuperate. We especially remember Donny Cline who was in a serious accident on the 25th but is now recovering. Pete Young is ill the past few days. Lenten suppers continue this week. The theme is Wholeness of Body, Mind and Spirit. A list of the speakers will be sent out by email. Lindy's sabbatical might involve a walking trip across a European country such as Scotland. The choir under Bob and Sarah's direction sounded wonderful today.

Given to us by a friend:

There was a discrete Brigadier/Who was fond of four thousand a year;/Who when he heard the guns rattle/Fiercely cried, "Ha the battle."/Then complacently slid to the rear.
