JULY 25, 2010
Temperature around 60 again this morning. Wind is warmer and a nice time to be out in the garden though it looks like rain . The scriptures were from Hosea 1:2-10, Colossians 2:6-15 and the Gospel found in Luke 11: 1-13 all read by Betsy Ewen who led the service. Paul Batesel spoke about knowing that God is working within us. We remember Ollie and Ethel, the Oxtons, John Botto and John Baker in our prayers. We remember the Laurie Berry family in their time of loss. We also think of all the farm families and others who recently lost animals and other property in a devastating hailstorm this past week. Dave Anderson has his first haircut since he finished chemotherapy several weeks ago! Deb Noyes is recovering from surgery. Doug Hlavinka underwent shoulder surgery about a month ago and is doing physical therapy. He's able to throw a ball now! We remember Jo Ewen as she heals. We heard from Lindy by email and she reported sore feet. Officially we don't have a pastor now and will be improvising until final plans are made for our immediate future. We give thanks for Jeanne and Jen Landwehr's visit this past week as they were passing through on the way to a family reunion. And Sarah Olson became a grandmother for the first time! Lucky that she had pictures along with her at coffee hour.
"And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me. And he said unto him, Man who made me a judge of a divider over you? And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consists not in the abundance of the things which he possesses."
(Luke 12: 13-15)
"A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing."

The UCC will celebrate its birthday during the next year. Its roots were in the Evangelical, Reformed Church and the Congregational Christian Churches. Its slogan is: "That All May be One".
The caring Club meets every week at Union Hospital . Call Marlys Hlavinka (788-3580) if you're interested in helping at the hospital where they usually work on Thursdays. Right now they're changing things as the Hospital transitions over to Sanford Health Care System. They attended a program last week officially changing the name.
Sunday August 1st-- Worship followed by Fellowship time. Del Hlavinka will be in charge. From now till the first of September the schedule will be changed as Jackee sets up the rest of the summer until Fall officially begins. Keep watching this spot and we'll try to keep up with it for you.
(We will have vegetables next week at the church as things are growing really fast now. Corn and potatoes should be ready next week)
This week's limerick:
A boy who ate too many peanuts/Began to imagine he'd see nuts/ Wherever he looked/ (Shelled , salted or cooked) /Do you think he may possibly be nuts?
Our Benediction:
God be with you till we meet again
