Sunday School
Temperature about sixty-five. The Old Testament selection was Genesis 28:10-19a read by Bob Miess.  The New Testament was Romans 8:12-25 read by Paul Batesel.  Pastor Lindy read the Gospel from Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43. For our sermon time, we had a hymn sing which was inspiring. We remember Jo Harrington who has moved into the Nursing Home.  Her children were  here last week to help move her things. We remember our sister church and John Botto. We sang Happy Birthday to Gayle Brown and Margit Eastman whose birthdays were last Sunday. Corey Enger is home from the Peace Corps in Niger and he will be starting school probably in environmental geography. He was in church with us today. It's great to have back.  Paul Hlavinka took his first test as he starts a major in Environmental Engineering at the University of Maryland. His daughter Gena will be starting college at St Marys, Maryland. We are happy Marlys Hlavinka is home from her visit to Las Vegas to see Jen and Isaak. Our friend Pastor Mark Kuether at Detroit Lakes UCC was recently elected moderator and chairman of the board of the Minnesota UCC.  His term is two years. We congratulate him and his family. Many lovely flowers were brought to the church today. The grass around the church looks great.  .

Please continue to give your coins and bills in our penny jar. The jar will be emptied and counted again soon.  The UCC will celebrate its birthday during the next year.  Its roots were in the Evangelical, Reformed Church and Congregational Christian Churches. Its slogan is: "That All May be One".

The Caring Club meets every week at Union Hospital . Call Marlys Hlavinka (788-3580) if you're interested in helping at the hospital where they work on Thursdays. Marlys is home now. We should be getting potatoes soon and then sweet corn to give out at church. Also a few zucchini, peas and beans.  Anyone else have any veggies to give away?
