Our Mission: St. Paul's United Church of Christ believes in the Triune God, who has created each of us with love, redeemed us in the person of Jesus Christ, and has empowered us by the Holy Spirit to share this Good News with all.  We teach the people of faith to be loving, tolerant, forgiving and supportive of each other, basing our beliefs and actions on the Word of God.

The church prides itself on a very strong Christian education ministry through weekly Sunday School for children, youth fellowship type activities, and an annual Vacation Bible School, all of which serve children and youth not only from our congregation, but also from the area at large.  In addition, there is an active women's group with occasional adult education classes and retreats.

Lenten Schedule

Join the Worship Committee and our faith fellowship each Wednesday evening and Sunday morning during Lent, as we learn of our Lord and his suffering on our behalf.

Using the devotional booklet, Face to Face, we can see how a variety of Biblical women experienced Jesus in their life.

On Ash Wednesday we hear of Eve's encounter with God in the Garden.  Anna is Face to Face with Jesus and knows him as the Messiah.  The Adulterous is Face to Face  with Jesus and is not bruised.  The Canaanite Woman is also Face to Face with Jesus with the hope that he'll heal her daughter.  The Prodigal Son's mother speaks with the elder brother and speaks of "forgiveness".  Pilate's wife talks of her dream and her attempt to spare Jesus.  Peter's Mother-in-law is profoundly changed as Jesus heals her; her eyes are opened.  Mary speaks of her vision of the angels and her life with Jesus, her Son.  Mary Magdalene comes to the tomb on Easter Morning and comes Face to Face with Jesus.

With monologue and reader's theatre we will catch a glimpse of nine women changed forever.

Wednesday evenings will begin with a soup meal at 7:00 p.m. and the special service will begin at 7:30 p.m.

"This season as we keep our Lenten tradition of looking inward with prayer and Bible study and moving outward in acts of giving, we, too, meet our Savior face to face and hear him say, "Your sins are forgiven," "Your faith has made you well," "Go and tell."  This new identity means nothing less than coming face to face, like Mary Magdalene, with the life -giving event of Jesus' death on the cross and going forth in Easter joy and resurrection hope."

The mid-week dates are February 6, 13, 20, 27; March 5, 12, 20, 21, and 23.

Save Those Aluminum Cans

With your support, the Sunday School raised $172 from aluminum cans. $60 was sent to "The GreaterGood Network" to provide a family in rural Rwanda with two goats (one male and one female) plus instructions and training on goat care.  The remaining money will go towards our newest Compassion International Child:
Meet Lidia from Bolivia
Lidia Quispe is 8 years old. She is in primary school and playing with dolls is her favorite activity.  Lidia helps at home by running errands. She lives with her father and her mother. Her father and mother are sometimes employed as animal herders.  There are 7 children in the family.  Lidia lives in the desert community of Tiawanaku, home to about 2,300 residents. She speaks Aymara.  With your help, St. Paul's will
be providing critical support to Lidia through Compassion International.

LETTER FROM OUR 1st COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL CHILD

(In summer we sent Abigail a "family gift" of $50)

Dear Auntie Nancy Beckman,                               Nov 5, 2007

I am really happy to hear from you.  I am happy to write back to you.  Yes, I received the gifts with my mother.  We got one big bag of rice, vegetable oil, Maggie, soaps and toilet rolls and the rest of the money I used to buy text books for me and my sister Ruth.  I also got some vest and panties, too.

School is fine.  We would soon start our first semester examinations.  Would you please pray for me.  I am sad Megan in gone, but I would be happy to meet Angie.  Thank you for everything your church is doing or me.

May God continue to bless the church and you.

Abigail

Dear Angie Schussman,                                       Dec 18, 2007

I am happy to know that it is your turn to write letters to me.  May God bless you for your care.  Thank you so much for your letter and picture.  It was very nice especially your picture.  You look so beautiful.

How are you doing?  I believe you are fine.  How is your family, school and church?  I believe all is well.  I am also fine here with my family too.  Today I am vacationing from school for Christmas.

I will keep you in my prayers.  Please do the same for me.

Stay blessed.
