St. Stephen's Community Church, United Church of Christ defines its mission as a spiritual presence that reaches out to the African American community in Lansing and the Mid-Michigan area in an effort to provide spiritual nurturing and learning and to provide community leadership and development.

St. Stephen's Community Church, United Church of Christ envisions a faith community that witnesses to the Good News of Jesus Christ, reflects the African American religious experience and tradition, and is relevant in addressing contemporary issues and concerns facing individuals and families.
