Our Mission:
Our mission as a Christ-centered church, growing in covenant with God and each other, is to increase our love and support for one another, our neighbors, and our brothers and sisters in Christ throughout the world.
West Congregational Church is a friendly, country village Christian congregation on the west side of the city of Taunton, MA. We worship in a lovely New England Meetinghouse that dates from the 18th century.
Sunday Service usually includes includes a mix of traditional and contemporary music. It also has a "Time for the Child in Us All" before young people go to classes. Our Sunday School uses a "rotation" curriculum. It draws on both text and computer resources. It invites young people to engage with the Bible from four perspectives: word, music, drama and creative arts.
The Youth Group meets regularly for learning, service, fellowship and occasional retreats or field trips. Bible Study, Prayer Group, and Choir meet at most mid-weeks.
The Mission Team coordinates compassion and justice outreach through local food pantries, One Great Hour of Sharing and special projects. Our pastor participates in the Greater Taunton Clergy Association and area gatherings of UCC clergy.
The congregation co-hosts the Greater Taunton Community Inter-Faith Thanksgiving Eve Service and a Thursday Ecumenical Lenten Potluck and Worship Evening. Volunteers are renovating Our historic schoolhouse to become a neighborhood pottery and arts center. Our three Summer Clambakes draw reservations from across the country. Each feeds 640 guests and is a significant ministry of hospitality.
Everyone from youth to the elderly is needed has a place in hosting our clambakes. New members report finding here an open-hearted welcome at worship, caring community, and neighborly ministry. We covenant to grow as Christians through prayer, preaching, teaching, fellowship and service.
Our Christ-centered congregation hopes to welcome you warmly for mutual spiritual growth, fellowship and service.
